'See you in September' Day 3 & Give~Away

Welcome Friends New and Old, I am so very happy you stopped by to see me for Day 3 of our 'See you in September' Blog Hop!!

Don't you think this was such a fabulous idea from Madame Samm of Sew We Quilt, and our Head Cheerleader Shari of Living with Purpose?  I do!  I have had a Grand Summer filled with New Beginnings.......

Until Madame Samm announced this Blog Hop, I was Gardening Away with a New Potting Bench my hubby built me for Mothers Day.  Planting Perennials around the New House that will be with us in years to come(Blog Post), and for our Veggie Garden this year, I did 85% of it in containers(Blog Post) and it hasn't affected the yield at all.  In between that it was crocheting and spending cherished countless hours with my Granddaughters.

While Pondering what to do for the Hop, I was introduced to Massdrop.  Massdrop offers various items at a reduced price depending on the number of committed buyers they have for a offered Product.  This is where I found Stitching Designer, Nancy Nicholson.  I picked up her Teapot Design,

Her kits come complete, even in a Fabric Bag that you can also embroider.  When I saw this I thought 'What have I gotten myself into'!  As you can see though the top and bottom of the design has symbols for all the stitches in the design.  Pretty Cool.  I did contact Nancy once through her Etsy Shop as I didn't receive a color card with all the thread I received in the Kit.  She responded with be creative or follow the picture card.  I could do that.

This is what I finished with, it is currently being framed as it will be a Christmas Gift.  So I folded back the sides to give you a pretty good idea.

Next up was my Kitchen Window, it needed a New Valance.  The one that came with the house was plain white.  I have White walls and I wanted Aqua/Teal in the Kitchen with the White.  Several Months back I had ordered a Aqua/Teal Ticking for the Valance, and a coordinating Aqua/Teal Toile for the eating area(project for another time).  Fabric was all cut and I was going to hand sew it when I received a call that I had won a New Sewing Machine(Blog Post).  Lots of Happy Dancing and Happy Tears were flowing here.

Once she arrived, I was on my way
I have a 72" wide Window, and I added a Front Rod Pocket of a 4" Dark Tan Dupioni Sash that I had in my stash of Trims.  I had to double layer the pocket so the Rod wouldn't show through, but then that added another benefit to the look
You see the Dupioni sash was wired so once hung I just pulled the two layers apart for another Ruffled look.

Bless you Riley Blake Designs for having a Aqua Gingham for my Towels.  I Love making pretty Towels for my home.
I used the Medium Aqua Gingham for the Ruffle, and the Large Gingham for the Lower 6".  Now with the New Machine I purchased Oodles more of RBD Gingham in assorted colors for more Towels for Gifts and for my Etsy Shop.

Let me introduce you to Mrs. M. and Mrs D. (they have a long history together, sometime I will post a story that I wrote about them for Victoria Etc. Magazine)

Mrs M.(in Red) is wearing a Kimono Jacket I had started upon returning from China 4 years ago.  Mrs. D. is wearing a Quilted Scarf (pattern from 2 Peas in a Pod)I wanted to try.  No batting just a very plush back from a thick Burgundy Blanket(New).

The fabric, a Vintage White Damask Tablecloth from my Mimmie.  It is the Perfect weight for cool Spring Mornings and now Fall evenings.  This was suppose to be a Pattern I wanted to play with, but it turned out so well it became a wearable finished product.

The Front Fabric of the Quilted Scarf is Robyn Pandolph's Boxwood House.  This was a Twice the Charm pack.  I love Robyn's Collections, she offers such a variety of Patterns in her color story.

I added some Vintage crocheted Lace from my stash in various places.  The scarf measures 6" x 72".  It will wrap nice and warm.  I have started more of these for adults and some in Children's sizes too.

A bit more than the required 3 projects for the Hop but I have enjoyed every minute creating and sewing.

Now for the Give Away!!
I have picked up a few things to build my Quilting Stash, so I thought I would pick some up for you too!

Red~White~Blue Blog Hop & Give Away

Good Morning Friends,
I so apologize for being late!  Yesterday was a Oral Surgery Day, need I explain more?

First off Thank~You soooo much Madame Samm and Jane for the superb joint effort in putting together this Beautiful Adventure!!

After last Summer's Wantobe a Quilter Campaign, which I was totally addicted to!  This is my first attempt ever at Quilting~

My thoughts were I could do straight lines, a Flag would work.  We do joint ventures around here too sometimes so my Hubby came up with this for me.

Early in the Spring I fell in love with Prairie Paisley II, so now I had a good reason to order a Charm Pack for my piece.  Cutting was easy, sewing was easy and went quite quickly.  I do love to sew!
Then it was onto embroidering 50 Stars, now don't look to close my embroidery needs as much practice as my quilting!

I am leaving this as is for my finished piece, it is going into a Frame that we Ordered.  Which I can't wait to put this all together and will eventually post the finished Product.  Remember from the Ghastlie Blog Hop that I have a daughter and her family that live in China?  Well Lauren and her hubby just recently had a Wedding Anniversary.  Every year for their Anniversary they get a Handmade gift from us.  Not necessarily made by us, but the gift always reflects their life in the States.  So for this year's Gift I think this just might be a good one, don't you?

Now for the Give Away, I am giving away a Strand of Red~White~Blue Candylights Lightstrand for you to use in all the future Patriotic Holidays.   Just leave me a comment, and I will use the Random Generator on the evening of the 16th Blog Hop.  The winner will be posted the following morning!

Please stop by the rest of my Quilting Friends today to see their lovely Red~White~Blue Pieces,

Have a wonderful day Friends and Thanks for stopping by!!
